It is very important for medical product manufacturers to make sure to avoid manufacturing defective products. Defective medical products can cause great harm to consumers. No consumer should have to suffer harm because a medical product they use was designed or manufactured defectively.
Recently, a product liability case involving allegations of a defective medical product has arisen in Louisiana. The case involves a man with diabetes who reportedly used a blood glucose meter and glucose meter test strips to measure his blood sugar level.
The man alleges that the blood glucose meter and the test strips that he used gave him an inaccurate reading on his blood sugar level. The man claims that this inaccurate reading occurred because the above-mentioned testing products were designed and manufactured defectively.
According to the man, the alleged inaccurate readings of his blood sugar level resulted in him taking an excessive amount of diabetic medication and insulin. The man alleges that this, in turn, caused him to suffer a variety of harms including:
- A diabetic coma
- Physical injury
- Physical pain
- Emotional pain
- Loss of enjoyment of life
- Disability
Reportedly, in connection to these allegations, the man and his wife have brought a lawsuit in Louisiana against three companies which reportedly were involved in the manufacturing and supplying of the above-mentioned blood glucose meter and glucose meter test strips. In their lawsuit, the man and his wife are reportedly asking for damages. It will be interesting to see what happens in this product liability case and how it is ultimately resolved.
